Part of gearbox remanufacturing<\/h2>\n

The torque converter is a part of the gearbox. Often, damage in the torque converter causes problems in the gearbox but vice versa can also be the case. For this reason, a complete gearbox overhaul is often advisable if there are complaints with the torque converter.<\/p>\n

In general, we advice to also overhaul the valve body as torque converter and valve body often have related problems; with many brands, such as Mercedes, ZF, GM, Jatco and Aisin, the pressure-regulating valve, TCC\/valve and lubrication valve are subject to wear, as are the solenoid valves.<\/p>\n

When installing the rebuild converter, it is obviously important to use the correct transmission oil. It is also very important to reset the adaption values with diagnostic equipment and check for software updates.<\/p>\n

TCRA certified remanufacturer<\/h2>\n

Ganzeboom is a member of the Torque Converter Rebuilders Association (TCRA). The TCRA is a professional organization that strives to continuously improve the level of knowledge at which torque converter rebuilders operate. Through the TCRA, there is communication between different rebuilders, and continuous efforts are made to improve and optimize the rebuilding process. Partly because of this, Ganzeboom Transmissions can guarantee the highest quality in torque converter overhaul.<\/p>\n

Technical – function torque converter<\/h2>\n

The torque converter is part of the automatic gearbox and consists of 3 parts: the turbine wheel, the stator and the pump wheel. The turbine wheel and pump wheel form the outside of the torque converter, while the stator is inside this part.<\/p>\n

The torque converter transfers the power generated by the engine to the driven wheels. This is done by a fluid flow and by centrifugal force. When the pump wheel starts turning, the centrifugal force throws out the fluid. The fluid then flows through the stator and past the grooves of the turbine wheel. The stator only allows the oil to flow in one direction. As the engine exerts more power, more oil passes through this system and thus more oil along the turbine wheel. This increases the pressure on the turbine wheel; eventually, the turbine wheel starts spinning. Thus, when the engine revs more and pumps more oil, the turbine wheel starts spinning and the car will start moving.<\/p>\n

A torque converter is a like a fluid clutch, allowing the engine to run somewhat independently of the transmission. If the engine is running slowly, for example when the car is idling at a traffic light, the amount of fluid passed through the torque converter is very small, so that stopping the car requires only a slight pressure on the brake pedal.<\/p>\n
