Our staff is trained to diagnose and repair hybrid vehicles; obviously with respect to the drive train but also for diagnosis of the electrical system.
A hybrid car is a car that uses different technologies for propulsion. Namely, an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The combustion engine draws fuel from the fuel tank. The electric motor runs on power from the battery that is charged while driving by a generator, which is powered by the combustion engine.
A hybrid car’s electric motor has far fewer rotating parts than a regular car because the brakes wear less quickly due to the recovery of braking energy. Hybrid cars require a different type of maintenance than cars with a gasoline or diesel engine. Hybrid cars do still have a (compact) internal combustion engine.
Despite that due to the absence of a gasoline or diesel engine and a gearbox for propulsion, the maintenance for that is omitted such as engine oil changes, oil, air and fuel filter etc. However, it is important to keep checking the levels and quality of the coolant, brake and wiper fluid along with the suspension, braking system and steering direction. Depending on the car, the transmission oil should be changed.
